ATHLETES START WITH FINAL PREPARATION FOR 2010 COMMONWEALTH GAMES
Johannesburg, Friday, 06 May 2010 (Revised on Wednesday, 09 June 2010) - Following the ASA announcement a fortnight ago, of the Senior and Junior Squads to the 2010 CAA African Championships and the 2010 IAAF World Junior Championships respectively, ASA today announced that the final preparation for the mentioned events and ultimately the 2010 Commonwealth Games has started.
With the assistance of ASA, Mbulaeni Mulaudzi (800m), LJ Van Zyl (400mH) and Tumelo Thagane (TJ) will be competing in Doha on 14 May 2010 as part of their preparation for the abovementioned events.
ASA will also be assisting Windy Jonas (800m), Mapaseka (800m), Jan Masanamela (800m), Samuel Sepeng (800m), Samson Ngoepe (800m) and Tebogo Masehla to compete in a Belgium circuit meeting on 24 May 2010.
In June 2010, during the window period where athletes are required to qualify for the final teams to the 2010 CAA African Championships and the 2010 IAAF World Junior Championships, ASA will also assist among other, Edwin Molepo (3000m Sc) Mthobisi Baloyi (1500m), Sibusiso Sishi (400m), Gladwin Mzazi (10000m), Juan van Deventer (1500m), Wouter Le Roux (400mH) Elroy Galant (5000m), Tshamano Setone (5000m), Estie Wittstock (400m) Elizna Naude (DT) to compete in Europe.
ASA will also, in collaboration with the ASA Provinces organize a series events for all athletes who which to qualify for the 2010 CAA African Championships and the 2010 IAAF World Junior Championships.

Athletes who want to qualify for the Combined Events to the abovementioned Championships will be able to compete in Potchefstroom on 4 and 5 June 2010. The Combined Events Athletes must contact Lappies Swanepoel (018 441 1152) in this regard
